Hair trends aren't moving as quickly these days as makeup and nail trends. There's no "glazed donut" equivalent for hair, unless you count the viral TikToks showing off the latest Dyson tools. (That said, anything Hailey Bieber does—like, say, chop her hair—seems to become an instant trend.) And because we all have different hair textures and cuts, not every new hairstyle is so easily adopted by us all.

But the spring 2023 runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris did in fact show several distinct hair trends that anyone can wear. There's the resurgence of '90s and early 2000s looks we're calling Y2K, as well as a new take on bedhead, cool ways to tie your hair up, and the end of the middle part chokehold. Ahead, the hair trends we think will dominate this spring and beyond.

Chin Length Bob

That sound you heard? That was a collective screenshot from those who worship at the altar of Hailey Bieber when the model and Rhode Skin founder posted her latest haircut.

Then there’s Jenna Ortega, whose textured bob has gone just as viral as her Wednesday dance moves.

Gen-Zers have their pick of short-hair inspo to choose from, as Emma Chamberlain has an equally enviable choppy style.

Side Part

You might look at this picture and think, "more wet hair?" Yes! But it's also parted way off to the side and hanging in the face, which was another major trend on the spring 2023 runways.

If this hairstyle just gave you a shudder-inducing flashback, it might be time for eye cream. At Givenchy, the only hairstyle appropriate for the y2k-inspired show was this distinct half-up style, which we last wore 20 years ago.

Paris Hilton, queen of all things 2000s, closed the show at Versace with her hair parted—guess how!—off to the side.

Prom Updos

Another Y2K resurgence? The perfectly coiffed evening updo, seen here on Meg Stalter. Alexa, play "Kiss Me," by Sixpence None the Richer.

All Tied Up

Don't just toss your hair into a basic ponytail or bun this spring. There are so many cooler ways to tie things up. At Dior, models walked wearing perfectly imperfect low pigtails. We love how the elastics are hidden with hair.

Jenna Rosenstein

Beauty Director

Jenna Rosenstein is the Beauty Director at BAZAAR.com. While attending NYU, she held internships at Women’s Wear Daily, Bloomingdale’s, Harper’s BAZAAR (as Glenda’s intern!) and Allure, the latter of which she parlayed into her first job as the Beauty Assistant. She left Allure three years later as the Senior Beauty Editor, spent a few months at Refinery29 in the same title overseeing branded content, before finally landing back at BAZAAR to oversee all digital beauty content. When she's not testing every lipstick known to mankind, getting zapped by new lasers, or interviewing experts and celebrities, you can find Rosenstein re-watching Star Wars movies, reading books about new discoveries in science and health, and playing with her Bombay cat named Maddie.
