1. How to care for tape in hair

WASHING AND DRYING: You should be careful and make sure your hair doesn’t naturally dry. But be careful when drying it not to put head directly on where the tapes are at the top as this may ruin the stick and they can fall out!

2. How much are tape extensions

TAPE HAIR EXTENSIONS AND REFITTING:

Tapes: Cost of hair (you may want more than one pack for a full head, I ordered 2 packs). Zen hairColour: T18/22- Length 22″ x2 – £103 (£206) with tax= £247.20.

Refitting: £150-300 (Every 8 weeks it says online but you can leave this longer).

You need to pay for buying the actual tapes and then on top of that the price of refitting them. My hairdresser does a decent deal at £150 for refitting. I originally had my hair dyed- balayage style, he toned the hair as we were unable to get the light ice hair colour I wanted. This cost £250 all together.

3. How often do you need to get them refitted

Every 8 weeks it states online but you can definitely leave this longer. I have left this for a few months at a time (3 months eek!), it just doesn’t fall into place as well and there may be more likelihood someone may see the tapes.

PROS

More on pros and cons of tape in hair extensions-

1. It doesn’t hurt- weave really really hurt when I got this done

2. It is light and you wouldn’t even notice you have it in

3. It looks so real and even getting cheaper hair from Zen, it looks and feels amazing!

4. So easy to take out and doesn’t pull your hair out! There is a solution the hair dresser will have and it’ll easily come off. The process as you can see in the video doesn’t take too long. I have heard bonds can be hectic.

5. LOVE LOVE LOVE – If you don’t want to spend too much and want the easy option possible, I really think tapes is the answer. You couldn’t tell you have them in, cost wise each time you refit doesn’t have to be crazy. Just combine this with when you go to the hairdressers every few months!

CONS

1. You are supposed to perfectly wash it each time. I got used to washing my hair less so it isn’t as much of a pain. BUT you can leave it if your hair is similar style to the human hair tapes you have bought (mine is wavy and this is also wavy when natural) I know this isn’t recommended as it can effect it falling out.

2. Being careful not to put your hair dryer too close to the tapes to make them fall out!

3. These do fall out and there is a glue type feel on your hair you can’t get out unless they have the special solution. Especially if you leave it a while. I think I had 4-5 tapes fall out the longest time I left it (each tape has two sides).

5. My tapes hair extensions, which ones I bought and what I would do now

I have tape extensions from Zen hair: Each pack of tape extensions holds 20 individual pieces (10 pairs) – I bought two packs. £247.20. We chose this as the beauty works didn’t have any icey blonde colours available- this was cheaper. However there is slightly less hair in each pack so now I think it is worth paying the extra price given how beauty works is supposed to be such good quality. I feel I probably have another 6 months use out of the hair whereas Beauty Works – people argue they have used for years and years. It is worth the investment.

6. The best quality tapes extensions and where to get them!

I would now get the 22″ SLIM-LINE TAPE EXTENSIONS – ICED BLONDE – reason being despite it being double the price at £414. It is so much better quality and you have more hair in each pack creating a more voluminous hair look. Do NOT invest in the invisi-tape- there is less hair and it’s more expensive. I also don’t think it perfectly hides the tapes so it’s a waste of money in my view!

Cost: 22″ SLIM-LINE TAPE EXTENSIONS – ICED BLONDE – Length 22″ x £207 = £414.

7. How to put in tape in hair extensions (Step by step the process)

  1. There are two tapes you technically stick together. You grab a stand of hair and place one tape at the top and the other at the bottom.

2. Here you can see my hairdresser grabbing the bottom to place underneath.

3. You then hold down firmly and use straightening tongs to press this firmly in place.

4. After this, here my hairdresser again uses another tongs to press this together.

5. Here you can see the tapes in place. Probably goes without saying this goes towards the under part of you hair so you don’t see it!

6. Best hairstyles for tapes, I always think make it wavy! Here you can see it tucked below and blending with my natural hair!
